EFFECTIVE RELIEF FROM DISCOMFORT

Soft tissue mobilisation is a physical treatment to alleviate musculoskeletal pain and rehabilitate injury.

It is a hands-on technique used to release tension, reduce muscle tightness, and improve circulation in the muscles and fascia (connective tissue) of the feet and legs. It’s especially effective for conditions like plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, shin splints, and general muscular fatigue. By improving mobility and reducing inflammation, soft tissue work can help relieve pain and restore normal movement patterns.

ACUPUNCTURE

Health Focus Clinic is now offering lower limb acupuncture to our range of available therapies. This is a Western medical acupuncture as opposed to traditional Chinese acupuncture and does not follow the ethos of balancing ‘Qi’ or energy. It involves rather the local applications of needles to sites of pain and adjacent areas to improve symptoms.

IS ACUPUNCTURE SUITABLE FOR ME?

Acupuncture is suitable for many people and can be an effective treatment for foot, ankle, and leg pain, especially when linked to musculoskeletal issues, nerve irritation, or chronic tension. It may be particularly helpful if you’re experiencing:

· Heel pain or plantar fasciitis

· Achilles tendinopathy

· Nerve pain or sciatica radiating to the leg

· Muscle tightness or fatigue

· Arthritis-related discomfort

· Poor circulation or restless legs

It’s a safe, gentle, and natural approach when performed by a trained practitioner—and is often used alongside other treatments such as soft tissue therapy or orthotics for best results.

However, acupuncture may not be suitable for everyone. It might be used with caution or avoided if you:

· Are pregnant (in some cases)

· Have a bleeding disorder or are on blood thinners

· Have a needle phobia

· Have a pacemaker (for electro-acupuncture)

· Have certain medical conditions where stimulation may be contraindicated

Before starting, we always take a full medical history to ensure acupuncture is appropriate and safe for you.
